As we come to the end of our tour. We find ourselves in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at The Horror. The Horror is in its 4th season but is led by individuals with tons of industry experience.

Over those years we consistently heard very positive things about their haunt. But we never could line it up on our tour. This season, it was finally able to happen and we made the trip down to T-Town (Tuscaloosa for those not familiar).

The haunt is very easy to find as it sits right off a main highway not very far from the interstate exit. The parking setup is very organized and the lot is lit up with ample personnel out there to guide you. It is a decent little walk to the haunt but they offer patrons a hayride to the front which is very convenient and a nice addition. Once you get to the front you will see the ticket windows and from there you will enter the midway. The midway has a lot of space featuring some snacks such as nachos, popcorn, drinks and candy (at a low cost I might add. Definitely appreciate seeing that.) They have a large screen showing movies with plenty of seating. Actors are roaming around to keep you on your toes and keep you reminded that you are in fact at a haunted attraction. They will call you in when it's your time to enter, from there you will enter a little chute and into one last holding area before you and your group enter the attraction.

Before we get into the experience (even though the season has basically come to an end, we still won’t do spoilers for clicks). We were told that they had a scavenger hunt which included old paper articles put throughout the haunt. Now whether that's true or we were being messed with by an actress, we’re not sure. But we did see multiple prints on the wall. TBH, we stopped paying attention once the experience began because we were so fixated on the scenes and getting jump scared. If it is true, that's pretty cool and we wish that we would have paid more attention throughout.

As we encounter our first moment we’re met by an actress that we guess is a door guard. She’s very quiet and kinda awkward. We tried to strike up a conversation to kill the silence and we were met with a very dry sense of humor. It definitely broke the tension with some of her comments as she had us laughing. But the laughing came to an end as we entered through the door to make our way through the woods (Still indoors) to the front of a cabin. The cabin was extremely well done with details as it totally gave off Evil Dead and Cabin In The Woods vibes. The front door opens up and we enter and notice the detail didn’t stop with the facade outfront. From the floor to the ceiling to the details of the cabinets and everything else. They even have a chained door on the floor as you saw in Evil Dead. They did an absolute amazing job with this scene. Here’s where we’re not going to spoil it, but this scene 100% sets the tone for the remainder of the experience. We said to each other that this scene could easily be the headliner of the experience, but the fact that it’s first. WOW! Definitely a unique, awesome opener to a haunt experience.

As we continued our journey into The Horror, we came across so many unique detailed scenes that were so immersive to what they were going for. They do a wonderful job at keeping you within their illusion and on your toes as surprises await you with every step. They do a magnificent job with utilizing their animatronics and props to grab your attention while the actors take advantage of those moments where haunt goers are completely focused on other things. We lost count of everytime we walked into a scene and were like “Wow, this is a cool scene” then BOOM! Actor in our face.

We do want to tip our hats to The Horror for having an Egyptian scene. That is so rare and hard to pull off. This scene was so cool and unique to experience and they pulled it off to perfection. The Horror offers many of these type scenes throughout the experience, such as the hall of dragons, the cabin, the clown bus (Actual bus that they tucked away hidden from view.)

The Horror truly gives off the old school ways of haunting, it’s hard to describe but it’s a breath of fresh air to experience this haunt. Especially if you’ve been in the industry or been a haunt enthusiast since the late 90’s early 2000’s.

We’ve been to haunts throughout Alabama and the country, we’ve seen and experienced A LOT! The Horror is a hidden gem haunt in Alabama that definitely should not be overlooked. Their quality scenes and scares are up there with the best of them.

We were humbled to be given a backstage tour and this haunt has it together and they are very organized. We got to meet a lot of the crew and they were super nice and welcoming of us.

We also want to note how creative they are. A lot of the unique, awesome things you see were made and created in house. The photo ops out front were created and painted by some of their inhouse crew, the scenes, props, costuming. We even got the opportunity to see an extremely cool bag created by one of their actresses. It’s a cow head that looks very realistic and to get candy, drinks or items out. The mouth on the front of the bag opens and you have to reach in the cow's mouth to get the items out. We were so impressed with that, Vice wants one of her own but done as a Highland Cow. (If you don’t know, Highland cows are native to Scotland and Vice is from Scotland.)  We just had to give that it’s own shoutout.

Overall, we had an absolute blast at The Horror. Got to meet some really nice and wonderful individuals and we also got to meet and talk with the crew from “The CW” The Crimson White publication from the University Of Alabama. (Hopefully we’ll get to talk with them again soon). They were super nice and cool to talk with.

Cody and Patrick have done a remarkable job with this haunt, the entire crew have done a remarkable job at this haunt. They have something really unique and special in Tuscaloosa and we can’t wait to see where they go with it for future seasons.

Regardless of how rankings turn out with SF or other brands out there.

The Horror in Tuscaloosa is a haunt you absolutely should experience and it definitely should not be overlooked by haunt goers.

We officially dub it as a MUST SEE ALABAMA HAUNT.
